Carly spent some time with Barbara Dacey at WMVY radio on her birthday.  You can listen to the entire interview and hear a rough demo of one of the songs that will be on Carly's new CD (coming out this fall).  Enjoy!

Another year younger....

 CS1sm

Yes, tomorrow is my birthday. What a beautiful day my mother chose to have her child. Actually, I am told, that today, at 5:29 PM, is my actual birthday because the sun is exactly where it was on my actual day of birth. It's called a 'sun return'. So I hope you thought of me at that minute and wished me well.

Richard1sm I have no plans for my birthday other than to spend it with Richard. I told him that I want to drink two glasses of champagne in my gazebo and just rest my head on his shoulder. Ben is in Ireland (with John Forte) and Sally is in Cambridge.

I will celebrate all the roses that just bloomed after the rain stopped. How do they know? It's quite a question.

I send you all my love, and these recent pictures.

A Serious Bunch

Oh friends, Dear friends,

Why I let so much time pass is a 'deep thought'. I don't believe I've been solidly busy. No question about that. But there is a divide. A slice of hesitation. Because I want to bring so much to this wondrous site that Jodie Wright started so many years ago. Could it have been that my children were actually 'children' then?

John Forte is 33 years old for God's sake!! And is here for the weekend!!!!!!!!!. That is the singular great event. He is strong, calm, funny, brilliantly musical beyond his former brilliance. His dreadlocks are longer than his body and he is long! He's handsome and his face is so calm and knowing. Do I go on too much? I'm just, I'm .....

I am so proud that he is here and that he has come so far in what was much longer a time than was needed, but it was what it was. We fought for him and finally we were heard. Made a dent in the great barrier reef that was the White House last year. George Bush listened. Orrin Hatch was a constant. He really fought for John's freedom. And the dear and brilliant lawyer, Michael Nussbaum, who out of sheer "willingness to see justice done", was a constant. Aarti Tandon, John's entertainment lawyer, reached far and wide and her long beautiful hands succeeded in making contact with everyone concerned.

We are a serious bunch. And now John, my Godson, Ben's best friend, our family's precious prodigal son. His mother, Flo's son, is here.

I can't tell you what it means to see how he has presided over time. Made it work for him, even behind bars. He grew and made a mark. He taught other prisoners and I'm sure, learned from them too. Seeing and eating a meal with him and hearing him sing only inches away, is hard to comprehend.

His new album will be coming soon and it feels like a miracle.
Ben's album is coming soon too. Another hyperbolic moment for Mom.
And mine....
Later for that!!!!
Love to you all, the proud Mother and Godmother, Carly
