Carly, I had the good fortune to hear Ben Taylor sing in Rock Island, Ill., last year. He has the right DNA to be a singer, obviously, but he also had a fun-loving spirit that guided his performance. You would have been proud! Thank you for the essay on stuttering in the Daily Beast. You helped a lot of people with your candor and compassionate message. I remain your devoted fan.

Dear Carly,
I have been a fan of yours ever since you hit the airwaves with "That's the
Way..." in 1971. I remember seeing you in a concert on TV back then with different stars, hosted by the Beach Boys, when you sang it and played the piano. I can tell you unequivocally that "You're So Vain" was the most-often played song during my senior year ('72-'73) at Jesuit High School (New Orleans) on the cafeteria jukebox, and of course I had the LP.
When I was at UNO (1973-77), after I finished my 9AM class, I'd go listen to your "Anticipation" album in the Student Gallery Lounge in the UC. I loved your 1987 HBO concert and have the DVD. As great as your 1970's music was, I loved your 80's songs you featured in that concert. I have been enjoying
your videos on the website, and I love seeing your family home movies contained in some of them...what a memorable life you must have had as a child and teenager. My favorite video and song is "Give Me All Night", but they are all great and truly special. Watching the "MockingBird" video with James Taylor makes me think of that early scene in the movie "Vacation", with Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo singing it
as they were driving out of town, and the kids had the look on their faces like,
"gee, are these really our parents?" ... :)
Since recovering from the Katrina devastation down here, I have managed to
pull out of what was for a time a long suicidal depression that began about a
month before the storm, primarily from losing my 12-year job in May 2005, then
dealing with a flooded-out home, no job in a mostly shut-down city, and my mom
stuck out of town in Lafayette for over 2 years, where she had a second bout
with breast cancer (the previous was 1997). I have her back in New Orleans now
and she is cancer-free amazingly, without any chemo, etc.. On the heels of all
that, I won the GMC VIP Grand Prize Trip for Two to the 2008 Super Bowl in
Phoenix last year and had an amazing five-day stay in Arizona (at the Chapparal
Suites Resort in Scottsdale). The 3-hour off-road jeep tour of Sedona desert on
Groundhog Day, the day before the game, was my highlight, even more than the game itself, which was also pretty awesome.
How bout the Giants!
I hope that one day maybe you can come do a concert here in the New Orleans area, perhaps at UNO Lakefront Arena, and/or if you ever write your memoirs and do a book tour, I'd love to meet you to say hello.
I consider you the most accomplished musician/singer/songwriter of my lifetime
with the most incredible voice, and think you're such a great person in this
universe. You are in my prayers and my highest regards and best wishes always
for you, your family, and friends.
Take care,

Hello Carly,
Just like all of your other fans I think you are an incredible talent, and I have enjoyed listening to your music for quite some time. The reason I wanted to write to you was to let you know (hoping you read these comments!) that thanks to you and 'Coming Around Again'I am able to get my baby girl (5 weeks old now) to sleep when all else fails. I am a huge fan of this song, I think it is just beautiful and its been a favorite of mine for years. I could listen to it over and over again and never get tired of it.
After trying just about everything else to get our little angel to sleep (and stop constant crying!) what brought me to play this song and sing to it I'm not really sure, but that doesn't matter because after a minute or so of singing along she falls in to a peaceful sleep... well, for a couple of hours until she requires her next feeding!
Just wanted to say a very special thanks for a wonderful song that I love, and that clearly my daughter loves also! Looks like she will be a Carly fan too.
Many many thanks,
Naomi and little Emily

Carly:
Sorry to be so blunt, Normally I am against Corp America; but this time I side with them. Drop the suit against Starbucks

Carly,
Drop the suit against Starbucks. I bought the album there at full price and frankly, it wasn't very good. I told that to people who asked. Slow sales weren't due to poor promotion or pricing; the product didn't deliver. Move on
